Extra-curricular Theater & Dance

Gilbert & Sullivan Players

http://web.mit.edu/gsp/

Formed on 29 February 1988, the MIT Gilbert & Sullivan Players is a volunteer group of students and non-students at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (Cambridge, MA) that performs the works of Sir William S. Gilbert and/or Sir Arthur Sullivan. MITG&SP occasionally performs other works, usually with some connection to Gilbert and Sullivan or the Victorian era.

Musical Theatre Guild

http://web.mit.edu/mtg/www/

The MIT Musical Theatre Guild is the oldest and largest theatre organization at MIT, and we are entirely student-run! Formed from the merger of the MIT Gilbert and Sullivan Society, the Classical Musical Society, and the Tech Show Society in 1971, we produce a wide variety of Musical Theatre. We perform four shows a year so there is plenty of opportunity to act, sing, dance, tech, design, direct, and produce. So, if you want to be part of a great art form, come investigate MTG!

Shakespeare Ensemble

http://www.mit.edu/activities/ensemble/

The MIT Shakespeare Ensemble is a self-sustaining community dedicated to a text-based approach to the exploration of Shakespearean and other classical works. We are a group of students and community members who are committed to forming an open and fun-loving community focused on learning the various aspects of theater. We share a common interest in the idea of the theater ensemble: a group of people who work together on a long-term basis to produce shows. This emphasis on the ensemble produces another dimension to our work rarely found in other theater groups at MIT. We generally perform one full-length show and one night of scenes every term.

Dance Troupe

http://dancetroupe.mit.edu/

Founded in 1993, the MIT Dance Troupe is the largest dance organization at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. We are a student-run group dedicated to bringing a variety of dance style to everyone in the MIT community, regardless of level. Every semester, we offer various dance classes to our members and produce one full length concert. Our concerts are some of the most highly anticipated and well-attended events on campus.

Mocha Moves

Mocha Moves was created with the aim to promote and celebrate hip hop and urban dance culture at MIT and throughout the Greater Boston Area. Dance is our passion and we love to share this fervor with others. We choreograph our own pieces from a range of genres, and our members are derived from a range of dance experiences.
